Since my first heart incident in 2018, I have been honored to serve as National Ambassador for the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women movement. Together, it is our goal to increase women's heart health awareness and be that catalyst for change to improve women's lives - because losing even one woman to cardiovascular disease is too many.

I've never had any health issues but while shopping for a friend's birthday present, I suddenly felt a pressure, like an elephant pressing on my chest. The manager took me to St Francis Hospital and I had surgery that evening. I had a 90% blockage in my main artery and a 75% blockage in the adjacent artery. I knew if I could share my story, it might help save another woman's life.

Most of us women are wearing multiple hats all at the same time. We have a big schedule no matter what our walk in life is. We are multitasking to the max and often put everyone in our life on our to-do list. Listen to your body. If your body is behaving in a way that's not normal for you, take action. Call the doctor. Drive to the hospital. Do not be afraid of that.
